Marcellus girls, Constantine boys win Centreville Invitational

The Constantine boys and Marcellus girls each took first place at the Centreville Invitational for track and field on Saturday. There were 10 teams at the competition.

Marcellus scored 1,000 total points for the girls. Centreville was second with 947 followed by Constantine in third with 900, Gobles in fourth with 857 points and White Pigeon finished fifth with 636. Colon came in sixth position with 421 points, Mendon was ninth with 327.

The Constantine boys piled up 1,145 points to win. Centreville came in second place at 1,028 while Mendon finished third with 708.5 points. White Pigeon came in fourth at 600, Gobles was fifth with 567. Marcellus finished eighth at 412, Colon took ninth at 342.

Colon’s Alex Stoll was named the Male Outstanding Athlete of the invitational. Marcellus’ Madi Simpson was named the Female Outstanding Athlete of the invitational.

Stoll won both the 110 and 300 hurdles. He posted a time of 15.88 seconds in the 110 and 42.39 seconds in the 300. Stoll also claimed second place in the 100 dash with a time of 11.94 seconds and was part of the 400 relay team that finished fourth. Stoll teamed up with Jose Cubillo-More, Blake Vanderstraaten and Kaleb Thaxton to run a time of 48.09 seconds in that race.

Simpson won a pair of events as well. She took first place in the long jump, clearing a distance of 14-11.5 feet. She claimed first place overall in the 100 hurdles as well, finishing at 17.90 seconds. Simpson’s time of 52.94 seconds was good for second in the 300 hurdles, she also finished third in the high jump at 5-0.

Constantine’s Brayden Clark won the boys’ 100 dash at 11.89 seconds, Dylan Coney of Centreville finished third at 11.95 seconds.

Dean Topolski of Constantine raced to first place in the 200 and 400 meters. He posted a time of 23.68 seconds in the 200 and 52.17 seconds in the 400. Coney came in second in the 200 at 23.71 seconds, Clark was third at 24.70 seconds. Joshua Falkenstein ran a time of 52.45 seconds for second in the 400.

Julian Hawthorne of Constantine won the 800 run at 2:06.01. Centreville took the next two spots as Ethan Miller had a time 2:07.97 and Chaseton Wyckoff ran a time of 2:10.34.

Constantine’s Ethan Glick ran to first place in both distance races. He had a time of 4:50.73 in the mile run and 10:26.77 in the two-mile. Logan Weis of Centreville ran a time of 11:19.06 for second in the two-mile, Robbie King of Constantine ran a time of 11:37.13 for third.

Following Stoll in the 110 hurdles, Cordell Jones-McNally of Marcellus ran a time of 18.65 seconds for second place. Yona Goodlow was third at 19.04 seconds.

Constantine’s James Hendrix came in second place in the 300 hurdles at 45.23 seconds. White Pigeon’s Trent Beeson completed the run at 46.62 seconds for third.

Centreville won three of the four relays, including the two sprints. The 400 team of Cody Marshall, Carter Cartier, Matt Truckenmiller and Gavin Bunning ran to a time of 46.80 seconds. The 800 relay team of Tyler Swanwick, Joshua Falkenstein, Jacob Falkenstein and Coney completed the race at 1:33.18. Centreville also won the mile relay. Swanwick, Miller and the Falkenstein brothers ran a time of 3:31.97 to place first.

Constantine was second in the 400 relay as Clark, Chase Bates, Michael Featherstone and Bennett VandenBerg came in with a time of 47.81 seconds. The Mendon team of Dylan Cupp, Jack McCaw, Isiah Ibison and Alex Smith was third at 47.86 seconds.

Constantine was also second in the 800 relay. Clark, Charles Morris, Donovan Miller and Topolski ran a time of 1:35.53. The White Pigeon team of Braxton Neeley, Dylan Carper, Todd Hollingsworth and Caleb Lane posted a time of 1:38.75.

Constantine was second in the mile relay as well. Hawthorne, Collin Featherstone, Morris and Topolski finished with a time of 3:33.24 in that one. White Pigeon was third as Carper, Hollingsworth, Josh Davidson and Mekhi Singleton ran a time of 3:49.57.

In the two-mile relay, Centreville’s team of Miller, Felix Suchert, Weis and Wyckoff finished with a time of 9:08.95 to place second.

Seth Miller of White Pigeon was second in the shot put with a distance of 40-3.

VandenBerg won the discus with a toss of 139-7 feet. Centreville’s Dylan Palmer finished second in that event at 116-8.5 feet.

Swanwick placed second in the high jump at 5-8, James Sailor of Constantine was third at 5-6.

Bunning won the pole vault competition. He posted a height of 10-6, finishing ahead of Collin and Micheal Featherstone, who each vaulted 10-feet.

McCaw leaped 18-3.5 feet for second in the long jump, Coney placed third at 18-3.25 feet.

Centreville’s Bella Kessler won the 200 dash at 28.55 seconds. She also placed third in the 100 dash with a time of 14.22 seconds.

Jade Kuhbander ran to first place for Centreville in the 400 with a time of 1:05.28. Colon’s Megann Mullins placed second at 1:06.83 and Riley Smith of Constantine came in third with a time of 1:07.38.

Autumn Major of Centreville was first overall in the 800 run at 2:39.12. Addie Curtis of Marcellus ran to second place at 2:44.55 and Macey Burgess of Colon ran to third at 2:47.64.

Presley Allen paced the field in the mile run, posting a time of 5:32.31 to win. Major came in second at 6:00.32, Curtis was third with a time of 6:05.55.

Noemi Cester of Colon was first in the two-mile run with a time of 12:21.97. Major came in third position in that race at 13:49.69.

Centreville’s Gabby Bowen won the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.95 seconds. She was second in the 100 hurdles at 17.91 seconds. Constantine’s Abigail Flores ran to third place in the 100 at 18.87 seconds, she was also third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 53.52 seconds.

In the 400 relay, Centreville’s team of Bella Kangas, Bowen, Kessler and Kuhbander came in second at 54.37 seconds.

Centreville’s 800 relay team won. Kangas, Kessler, Zoe Miller and Kuhbander teamed up to post a time of 1:56.78, they were the only team to finish below the two-minute mark for the race.

Flores, Natalie Whitaker, Cami McMillin and Smith teamed up to win the mile relay for Constantine. They finished with a time of 4:37.22 in that one. Colon’s team of Burgess, Sydney Taylor, Cester and Mullins ran a time of 4:43.77.

Marcellus came in second position in the two-mile relay. The team of Curtis, Merle Muntefering, Laerke Kronborg and Veronica Trunzer ran a time of 11:25.64 in that one. Colon’s team of Burgess, Azealia Lafler, Mullins and Cester claimed third, they ran a time of 11:31.53.

Keyara Szymanski of Mendon won the shot put at 34-feet. Caterina Thelen of Constantine was second at 32-8, Lilly Stears finished third at 32-feet.

Szymanski claimed second in the discus at 95-5.5 feet. Thelen’s distance of 85-11.5 feet was good for third place.

Kangas took second place in the high jump, clearing 5-2.

Marcellus’ Talan Hiemstra won the pole vault at 8-0, Constantine’s Thelen also cleared 8-0 but finished in second. Alivia Stuart of Mendon finished third at 7-6.

Zoe Miller (14-3.5) and Ellie Miller (13-6.5) finished second and third in the long jump.
