March for Life takes place in Thompson Falls

Jan. 24—Residents in Sanders County took part in the annual March for Life anti-abortion demonstration last week on a snowy, windy 16-degree day in Thompson Falls.

It was the second March for Life rally since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.

The number of people participating in this year's march was down from the usual 50-plus to only 13 hardy souls who walked along the snow packed sidewalks of Thompson Falls.

The march began with a prayer by Rev. Jakob Berger.

Her first time doing the march, Sandy Langford said she was excited to be a part of the demonstration.

March participant Steve Snell was asked why they still marched with the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

"Pro-Life, anti-abortion. As long as there is abortion and its mentality with society," he said.

Snell pointed out a pin on his hat showing the size of the foot of a 10-week-old fetus.

"That's a person and we are killing hundreds of thousands of them."

The March for Life website says that "even with the wonderful blessing of Roe v. Wade being overturned, which allows more freedom at the state level to enact pro-life laws, the necessary work to build a culture of life in the United States of America is not finished."
