Marcus Maye’s court hearing for February DUI arrest delayed

Marcus Maye must wait an extra week to have his day in virtual court.

The Jets safety’s Zoom hearing for his February DUI arrest has been pushed back from Oct. 20 to Oct. 27, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. Maye was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, as well as misdemeanors of DUI/damage to property and person and leaving the scene of a crash in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Feb. 22.

Six weeks after his DUI arrest, police in Orlando, Florida stopped Maye for speeding and driving with a suspended license, according to NorthJersey.com.

It has been reported that Maye’s arrest was not previously disclosed to the Jets or the NFL. Failure to disclose an incident could result in additional discipline under league policy. The incident is being investigated by the league.

“We’ve all made mistakes and he recognizes the mistake that he made,” Robert Saleh recently said of Maye’s situation. “I judge Marcus for how he is since I first met him and that really wasn’t until minicamp.

“Marcus has been an outstanding teammate. He’s been an outstanding individual. His teammates absolutely love him. From my understanding, he hasn’t had many issues as a young man. This is something that he will get through.”

Maye is currently dealing with an ankle injury and has not played since the Jets’ Week 3 loss to the Broncos. Maye has totaled 23 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass deflection so far this season.
