'Stop with the Botox': Maren Morris slams critics after sharing makeup-free photo

Maren Morris is hitting back at her critics after sharing a new makeup-free selfie to Instagram.
On Monday, the country singer shared a photo of herself and her one-month-old son, Hayes, to social media. The 30-year-old was pictured holding her son tight against her chest, looking serene in a quiet moment of bonding between mother and child. Morris captioned the photo with lyrics to singer-songwriter Patty Griffin’s “Mary.”

Although many of the “Bones” singer’s followers wrote positive messages, there were some who used the post as an opportunity to shame Morris for her appearance.
“Stop with the Botox,” one person wrote with a clown emoji.

The comment prompted a response from the Texas native herself.
“Dude, I just went through a pregnancy and we’re in the middle of a quarantine,” she said. “The Botox has long worn off.”
Fans quickly came to her defence, praising the star for her natural beauty and new mom “glow.”
“Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous,” one follower wrote. “Please ignore the haters. So happy you have your little guy to keep you company during this time.”
“You are gorgeous,” another added. “Motherhood gives women a glow that can’t be bought in a bottle. enjoy every minute with your angel.”
Morris gave birth on March 23 via emergency C-section, and has been in isolation with her husband, singer Ryan Hurd, at their home in Nashville.
“Thirty hours of labour ended with an emergency cCsection... not what we planned but I learned pretty quickly that night that having a plan for bringing a human into the world is a fool’s errand. All that mattered was that he got here safely,” Morris wrote in a March 27 Instagram post. “Having him in the middle of a global health crisis was also not in the baby prep books, but here we are. Holding him and healing my body in a maternity ward that’s eerily quiet from us not being allowed visitors or family at this time, but strangely serene. All we hear are monitors beeping and the coos of our infant son.”
