Margaret Cho, Lisa Ling and More Featured as NFT Cards to Raise Funds for #StopAsianHate

Cause-based NFT (non-fungible token) fulfillment platform NFT4GOOD recently partnered with MerchNFT to complete its first charitable campaign to support Asian American organizations and nonprofits active in the #StopAsianHate movement.

About the campaign: The AAPI 88 campaign, which ran from May 1–9, featured a series of 88 Asian American Influencer NFT cards that were auctioned off to raise money for the NFT4GOOD Community Fund.

  • The campaign's list of AAPI NFTs included leaders in entertainment, sports, business and community activism.

  • NextShark founder Benny Luo was featured among figures such as Lisa Ling, Ronny Chieng, Kevin Lin, Margaret Cho, Aileen Lee, Brandun Lee, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, Steve Chen, Jin the MC, Dave Lu, Jimmy O. Yang, David Christopher Lee and many others.

  • The campaign also included "notable allies, including 3x Super Bowl champion, Julian Edelman, Victor Ortiz & María Gabriela de Faría."

  • Founder of $WHALE and E1337 crypto tokens WhaleShark donated $30,000.


How it works: MerchNFT CEO/Founder Daniel Kim launched the AAPI 88 campaign via a dedicated page on the NFT4Good website where collectors and fans were able to purchase the NFTs using a debit/credit card or cryptocurrency.

  • Each NFT purchase came with a physical collector’s card of the same NFT delivered by mail.

  • The campaign’s goal was to raise $88,000 for the NFT4Good Community Fund, which is hosted by the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF), a national fund for the AAPI communities.

  • "My team and I wanted to use our resources to help bring more awareness to these issues and thought NFTs could be a creative way to help raise funds for charities,” Kim was quoted as saying. “We also wanted to showcase some of the leading AAPI influencers who have had a direct impact on American culture as we know it today."
