Longtime actress and artist Margaret Nolan, who had a memorable role in the classic 1964 James Bond movie “Goldfinger,” has died.
She was 76.
Her death was announced Sunday night by director Edgar Wright, who recently worked with Nolan on the film “Last Night In Soho.”
The title sequence of “Goldfinger,” as well as marketing for the movie, famously saw Nolan covered with gold paint as she wore a bikini. She also appeared in the iconic Beatles film “A Hard Day’s Night,” which came out in 1964 as well.
“She was the middle of Venn diagram of everything cool in the ’60s,” Wright wrote in a Twitter tribute.
Nolan, who was born in Somerset, England, got her start as a model. As an actress, she appeared in dozens of film and TV projects during a career that spanned six decades.
Her other notable acting gigs included an appearance in the 1970 sci-fi musical “Toomorrow,” which starred Olivia Newton-John, and she also appeared in multiple movies in the popular British “Carry On” comedy film series.
Nolan played the role of Dink in “Goldfinger,” which is the third movie in the 007 spy movie franchise and stars Sean Connery as Bond.
Wright, 46, said Nolan had a small part in “Last Night in Soho,” which is a psychological horror film set in London during the 1960s that stars Anya Taylor-Joy. The film is due out next April.
A cause of death for Nolan has not been revealed.
“She was so funny, sharp and, as you might imagine, full of the most amazing stories,” Wright wrote of Nolan.
“I’m so glad I got to know her,” the filmmaker continued. “My heart goes out to her family and all that loved her. She will be much missed.”
