Margot Robbie Dazzles With a Surprising Makeup Shade in London
The 28-year-old actress set onlookers' hearts aflutter with bolts of crimson makeup at the premiere of "Mary, Queen of Scots."

Last night at the UK premiere of Mary, Queen of Scots, Margot Robbie put her own fairytale spin on lady-in-red-glamour. The 28-year-old actress's Rodarte sweetheart gown may have been white, accented with polka dots and embellished rose embroidery at the waist, but above the neck she donned bolts of head-swiveling crimson on the eyes and lips that set onlookers' hearts aflutter as she swanned down the red carpet alongside her co-star Saoirse Ronan.

Equal parts festive and fitting for the regal occasion, makeup artist Pati Dubroff blended a saturated wash of scarlet pigment into the lids, diffusing it out towards the brow bone to gradient effect, with a matching, light-catching coat of iridescent glitter pressed on top. A stamp of cherry red lipstick on the lips, as well as a swirl of rosy rouge on the cheeks, drove the monochrome color story home.

But the arresting beauty didn't end there. Upping the ante, hairstylist Bryce Scarlett sculpted her chest-grazing blonde lengths into luminous, side-swept pin curls that recalled retro screen siren Veronica Lake. An appropriately vivid look to celebrate her turn as the ruby-haired monarch, her latest appearance was a reminder that Robbie isn't just a chameleon on-screen. The simple fact is, Robbie can always be relied upon for a well-calculated—if not impossibly glamorous—beauty risk.
