Margot Robbie Has a New Look for Harley Quinn in the Birds of Prey Trailer

The upcoming DC Comics film about a team of vigilante women is going for something we haven’t seen yet.

Birds of Prey, the forthcoming movie based on the beloved DC Comics team of lady vigilantes—starring Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad—is here with a surprise teaser video.

Uploaded with the title "See You Soon," the video is 20 seconds of Margot Robbie as Quinn, wearing pom-poms as wings and wielding a hammer, intercut with small glimpses of other characters' presumed looks in the Birds of Prey film. There's a shot of someone holding a crossbow (the signature weapon of Mary Elizabeth Winstead's duster-wearing character, The Huntress) and another woman knocking back a bottle of hard liquor (another shot suggests this may be Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary—a recent take on the character portrayed her as a leather-clad, hard-partying frontwoman by night and vigilante...also by night), along with rapid-fire shots of the cast. You'll get a glimpse of Ewan McGregor as crime lord Black Mask, a buzz-cut Chris Messina as serial killer Victor Zsasz, and newcomer Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, an orphan who becomes a highly skilled assassin.

Based on this brief glimpse of footage, Birds of Prey (which, I must remind you, comes with the subtitle And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) looks like it's going for an extremely hard-partying, Instagram-ennui sort of vibe, and honestly? I think it works.

Birds of Prey isn't scheduled to release until February 7, 2020, so it might be a while before we get a full trailer. For now, color us intrigued.
