Margot Robbie has been a must-watch actress on the big screen for well over a decade, and with Barbie is about to drop, she's really been basking in the spotlight. Obviously, playing the titular role in The Movie Of The Summer 2023—along with her previous major film roles and talent—comes a lot of...well, Hollywood ~attention~. But despite becoming a household name throughout the years, Margot's done a superb job of keeping her romantic relationships under wraps.

In case you didn't already know, Margot has a husband, and the two have actually been together for almost nine years. (I know...I was shocked too.) The Suicide Squad actress, 33, has been with her partner, Tom Ackerley, 33, since 2014, and the couple has stayed strong through the years.

But now that fans are catching on, they're curious to know more about the British film producer. Although Margot doesn't have an Instagram to share adorable couple pics, Tom does, and yes, Margot makes the occasional appearance.

Social media aside, there's a lot more to know about Tom. Read on to learn more about Tom and his relationship with Margot.

Tom got his start in Harry Potter.

Yes, you read that correctly, Harry Potter fans. In January 2020, Margot—a longtime fan of the series—revealed on The Graham Norton Show that Tom had a small role in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. (Plus, he was an extra in the first two movies, PEOPLE wrote.)

Margot once joked that she would've married her husband sooner had she known about his days as an extra. (I felt that.) "He was an extra when he was a little kid—he was one of the Slytherin extras when Draco pushes some kids out of the way to see Buckbeak in the third book. He pushes my husband out of the way," said Margot.

Here's the scene she's talking about:

Tom later went to Godalming College in England, per PEOPLE, then worked as an assistant on projects like American Odyssey and Macbeth before becoming a producer on bigger films such as Grimsby with Rebel Wilson.

How did Tom and Margot meet?

On set, actually! Not long after the release of The Wolf Of Wall Street, Margot signed on to star in Suite Française in 2013, per PEOPLE. At the time, Tom was working on the film as third assistant to the director, according to the British Film Institute. While it's not super common to live with the people you're working with, Margot revealed that the cast and crew bonded so well, that it seemed like the best decision.

“We were like: ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if we all lived together?’ Someone said: ‘But you don’t live in London,’ and I said: ‘I don’t live anywhere. I’ll move.’ Three days later we signed a lease in Clapham," she told The Guardian. "I didn’t even see the place–I had to fly out to the Golden Globes [where Wolf Of Wall Street had been twice nominated] three hours after we made the decision.”

When they met, she was the "ultimate single gal," she told Vogue in 2016. “This crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, Oh, he would never love me back," she said. "Then it happened, and I was like, Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.” (Aww!)

And the rest is history—they started dating in 2014 and got married on Australia's Gold Coast in December 2016, according to PEOPLE, who also wrote that they didn't publicly announce the engagement.

They co-founded a production company.

Considering how many times Margot and Tom have worked together, it was only a matter of time before they began collaborating on their own venture. In 2014, the couple founded LuckyChap Entertainment with Josey McNamara (a fellow producer) and Sophia Kerr (an assistant), PEOPLE reported.

The company is focused on making female-focused films, per their MovieMaker 2020 interview, and LuckyChap is responsible for I, Tonya, Birds of Prey, Promising Young Woman, and most recently, Barbie, per IMDb.

Tom and Margot are super dedicated to their work—they even delayed their honeymoon to work on I, Tonya. "There were times we were sitting in a car parked in Atlanta freezing cold being like, 'We should be on a beach right now. We should be on a honeymoon. What are we doing?!' Following our dream," Margot told Extra in 2017.

They're a quiet social media couple.

Margot isn't on Instagram, and Tom rarely posts, with his last photo promoting Promising Young Woman's five Academy Award nominations back in March 2021. It looks like in 2019, though, he was more active, posting pics in the snowy outdoors with Margot and golfing, so maybe enjoying nature is one of his hobbies.

Tom is very supportive of Margot.

Although they keep their relationship private—Margot and Tom didn't even walk a red carpet together until fall 2017, ELLE reported—they're super supportive of one another.

Case in point: Tom even helps Margot get through her jitters when starting new jobs. "I'm always nervous to start any job. I have this complete crisis of faith and think, 'Oh my gosh, I'm not even good at acting and I can't do this,'" Margot said of her reprisal of Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad sequel in her 2021 Daily Mirror interview. "I turn to my husband and I'm like, 'I don't think I can do this'. He says something like, 'You do this every time. You'll be fine.'"

Tom has also been joining her for more public appearances as of late. Last July, he visited Margot on the Barbie set for her 32nd birthday. They had a fun date night at the Chanel Cruise 2023/24 fashion show this past May, per PEOPLE, and he even walked the Barbie world premiere pink carpet with her, the outlet shared. (Too cute!)

They've kept their future plans under wraps.

As of now, Margot and Tom do not have children. However, Margot has been open about her frustrations with being asked when she plans to have kids following her marriage.

“I got married and the first question in almost every interview is ‘Babies? When are you having one?’ I’m so angry that there’s this social contract. You’re married, now have a baby. Don’t presume. I’ll do what I’m going to do,” she told Radio Times, per Vogue. You go, girl!
