Mariah Carey and her longtime boyfriend Bryan Tanaka have reportedly split after seven years together.

According to Page Six, the couple’s 14-year age gap played a role in their split as Tanaka, 40, wanted to have kids of his own.

A source told the outlet: “He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at.”

54-year-old Carey shares twins Moroccan and Monroe, 12, with her ex-husband Nick Cannon.

Speculation about the pair parting ways first began in November, when fans noticed that the dancer was absent from her Merry Christmas One and All! tour.

The Fantasy hitmaker has continued to raise eyebrows as she celebrates the holidays in Aspen without Tanaka, who previously accompanied her on the trip, as per People.

In fact, the pair, who began dating in 2016, were last seen together in March while celebrating Carey’s birthday.

At the time, the dancer paid tribute to the superstar alongside a black and white photo of them together, writing: “This is one of my favourite pictures. Ever. Happy anniversary my beautiful queen. 3/27” (sic).

So far, neither Carey nor Tanaka have publicly addressed the split speculation. The Standard has contacted Mariah Carey’s rep for comment.

The pair initially met in 2006 when Tanaka was a backup dancer on her Adventures of Mimi tour but romance only blossomed between the pair a decade later following her split from fiancé James Packer.

He told E! News in 2016: “Something connected with us back in the day and there was just a mutual admiration.

“She saw something in me that I actually didn’t recognise at first, from that it was over. It was set in history that we were going to be connected some way, somehow.”
