Marie Armenia: The Difference Between God and Santa Claus
Most people don’t expect Santa Claus to be like God, but a great many people expect God to be like Santa Claus. This can make life confusing and disappointing when God doesn’t act like Santa.
Here is a list of top 10 differences between God and Santa:
1. God doesn’t make a list or check it twice to see if you’ve been naughty or nice. God doesn’t need lists. He knows. He knows every single thing about you all the time.
2. He already knows if you are a naughty person. The surprise is that God loves naughty people. He loves all people. The primary gift He gives is to tell you that He can change you from naughty to nice. In a mere moment of time. Only God can do that and only if you ask.
3. God is not impressed with people who think they deserve things because of how nice they are. He doesn’t give us gifts because we are nice. He gives us gifts because He is love.
4. God gives more than mere gifts. God gives miracles. God repairs families and people. No situation is too difficult for God to fix. God gives hope in the middle of a seemingly hopeless world. God gives life. God gave Jesus to give us the hope of having forever. And ever. And ever.
5. God doesn’t need reindeer or anything that exists to find you. He isn’t sitting in the snow at the North Pole waiting for your yearly letter of what you’d like to get. He made the North Pole. He made the wind that blows there and the snow that falls. He made the earth and the sun it spins around. He made the stars and the humongous Universe. He sees you where you are as you read this… right now. He knows what you are thinking and why you are thinking it. He hears your heart. He understands you. Completely. He knows what you need before you ask.
6. God is there every minute of every day, all year long. He’s not a Christmas Eve only gift giver. He’s as close as a whisper. He hears your heart.
7. God doesn’t give us everything we ask for, neither does any good Father. He does give us everything we need.
8. God is real. It’s easy to dismiss the fairly tale called Santa Claus but it’s eternally foolish to dismiss the Living God as being a fairy tale.
9. God created you. You cannot change yourself. Let your Creator do it.
10. God loves you if you are naughty. God loves you if you are nice. God loves you.
