Marilyn Monroe drag queens call for climate action

STORY: “Every single day that passes, we are running out of time, and Pride is the most incredible time around the country, around the world, to really bring attention to a larger issue that we are all affected by, not just queer people,” said drag queen Mischa Kinx.

The drag queens sang 'Happy summit, Mr. President,' to each cut-outs of five world leaders: U.S. President Joe Biden, Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, Argentine President, Alberto Fernandez, Brazil’s President, Jair Bolsonaro and Ecuador’s President, Guillermo Lasso. They also delivered tailored messages to each leader.

To Bolsonaro, the message was to protect the Amazon and the rights of indigenous people. For Biden and Trudeau, the message was to deliver on promises to invest in halting climate change and address the issue at the Summit of the Americas.

The drag queens met close to the venue where Biden was expected to meet with Bolsonaro for the first time since he took office. White House officials say climate change and pandemic recovery is on the agenda.
