Marine commander asks Elon Musk for help in evacuating Azovstal’s defenders

Volinskyi says he created a Twitter account purely to address Elon Musk.
On Instagram, he asked everyone on the planet to help boost his plea to Musk see his appeal.
“It is said that his task was to inspire humanity, to make them believe in the impossible,” Volynskyi wrote.
“He has proven that there are no unsolvable problems for him, that anything is possible! He never gives up, like us!”
Musk’s companies have provided Ukraine with Starlink satellite internet terminals and Tesla Powerwall solar batteries, since the beginning of a full-scale war unleashed by Russia.
The defenders of Mariupol have repeatedly appealed to world leaders for help in evacuating from the Azovstal plant, which is currently besieged by Russian invaders. They are ready to evacuate with the support of a third country, taking the injured and the bodies of the slain with them.
Mariupol has been blockaded by the Russian invaders for over two months, which has resulted in widespread humanitarian catastrophe across the city. Russian forces have systematically destroyed nearly every building in the city, including civilian structures, and have blocked the transfer of humanitarian aid. An estimated 25,000 Ukrainians are believed to have been killed as a result.

After lengthy talks and diplomatic efforts, the Russian side finally opened a humanitarian corridor from the Azovstal steelworks, which sheltered nearly 1,000 non-combatants, for civilians on May 1.
On May 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that more than 300 civilians had been evacuated from Azovstal and preparations were underway for the second stage of the evacuation mission, which would rescue the injured and medical workers.
