Marine killed at Pearl Harbor finally laid to rest in San Diego

Decades after he died in the attack on Pearl Harbor, a California Marine has been laid to rest with full military honors.

- A US Marine who died at Pearl Harbor finally laid to rest at home right here in San Diego. Private First Class John Middleswart was buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery yesterday. He was only 19 years old when he was killed during the attacks back in 1941. Middleswart was among hundreds of unidentified service members buried in Honolulu. Nearly eight decades later, his remains were finally identified.

EDWARD BROWN: I'm glad, because all these years, he was unidentified, remains unrecoverable. All of a sudden, we have remains. He's home. Rest in peace.

- Private First Class Middleswart was a native of San Diego. He was serving onboard USS Oklahoma during the attack on Pearl Harbor. 429 service members died aboard that ship. Nearly 130 are still unaccounted for.
