New Mariners jerseys incorporate Washington’s baseball history

The Mariners have a history of unique jerseys and products, and this year’s new Nike City Connect jersey is no different.

“It’s going to be a great weekend. We’re super excited about this jersey, it’s a celebration of over 100 years of baseball. There’s little unique items throughout the jersey and storytelling that incorporate the Rainiers, the Pilots, the Mariners original jerseys, even the Seattle Steelheads from the 1940s,” Mariners Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Kevin Martinez said.

The new jerseys are blue and yellow and pay homage to throwback Seattle teams.

“The blue and yellow are the original colors of the Mariners and the Seattle Pilots. The Pilots are the first Seattle Major League Baseball team and the font on the front of the jersey is evocative of the Seattle Pilots as well.”

With their new City Connect jersey, it’s all about the details. There’s a PNW patch that has Mt Rainier in the background, and if you look closely, the “P” is from the Pilots uniform! The bottom of the jersey has the famous “My Oh My” quote paying tribute to late Mariners broadcaster, Dave Niehaus.

Head down to the Mariners team store at T-Mobile Park, or the downtown store. There will be a live DJ Friday-Sunday, as well as giveaways! Hatback Bar & Grill will also give fans wearing anything from the City Gear line 20% off!
