Marion County crews battle house fire Thursday morning

Marion County firefighters responded Thursday morning after a mobile home caught fire.

Firefighters said they were called out around 9:09 a.m. to the structure fire in the 17000 block of SE 155th Ave. in Weirsdale.

Officials said when crews arrived the home was engulfed in flames and it was unclear if anyone was inside.

Crews from the Weirsdale fire station arrived on scene within five minutes and called in additional firefighters to help.

Additional crews from South Marion Station, The Villages Station, Belleview Station and Spruce Creek Station arrived soon after.

Firefighters deployed hose lines and made a quick offensive attack on the blaze.

Officials said the fire was under control by 9:31 a.m.

Firefighters searched the home and found no one was inside and no injuries were reported.

Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross has also been called in to assist the homeowner.
