Marion County: What you need to know about events this week

The spirit of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is coming to Marion County when award-winning rocker Jasmine Cain pays a visit to the OK Cafe. Cain is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the OK Cafe, 734 E. Center St. in Marion.

The Sturgis, South Dakota, native "covers everything from classic and modern rock to revved up pop and metal," according to her website. In addition to her stellar cover work, Cain has released seven studio albums featuring award-winning original tunes.

Cain has been the recipient of more than 30 awards for her music and performances including the Josie Music Awards Album of the Year (for her 2019 album "Seven") and Female Rock Vocalist, JPF Female Artist of the Year, (MCMA) 4-time Female Rock Vocalist, NIMA Artist of the Year, and 2-time alt-rock band of the year to name just a few of the accolades she's received.

Cain's performances have been described as "professional, stadium quality, and high energy, keeping the audience’s attention from the first note until the last. Her songs are emotional and timeless, and her voice is strong and soul-filled, taking audiences on a supercharged ride."

Marion-based rockers Left of Center will be the opening act Friday evening. They're scheduled to take the stage at 5 p.m.

Lambert performing at Route 30 Harley-Davidson Bike Night

In addition to the Jasmine Cain show Friday night, the OK Cafe is hosting sidecar racing champion Greg Lambert on Thursday during the weekly Route 30 Harley-Davidson Bike Night. Lambert is scheduled to meet with fans from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.

The native of Richmond, North Yorkshire, England, is a multi-time champion on the Formula 1 and Formula 2 sidecar racing circuit. Lambert has been racing since 1988. He now owns and operates his own racing team, Greg Lambert Racing, based in North Yorkshire, England.

The OK Cafe is a sponsor of Greg Lambert Racing.

Sip and create class in La Rue

A Sip'n Create Painting Class will be offered this Saturday in La Rue. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the La Rue Community Center, 350 N. High St. in La Rue. The event costs $30 per person with 20% of proceeds benefiting the La Rue Community Alliance. For information, go to the Sip'n Create Painting Class event page on Facebook.

Farmers markets this week

The Downtown Marion Farmers Market is open from 4 to 7 p.m. each Thursday through Oct. 19. Vendors set up along Center St. between Main and Prospect streets. The Prospect Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 200 E. Water St. in Prospect.
