Marion County restaurant inspections: March critical violations

The Louisiana Department of Health performs regular inspections of restaurants and stores that sell food. These are the local results of those inspections.

The following restaurant inspections with critical violations were conducted by Marion Public Health in March:

The Quick Stop, 533 S. High St., Caledonia, March 2. Water source and/or hot water capacity not sufficient (critical). No hot water in facility.

Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, 571 E. Center St., Marion, March 10. Food not properly protected from contamination by separation, packaging and segregation (critical, corrected during inspection). Observed ice tea stored near the hand sink, uncovered, under the paper towel holder with no cover. Person in charge (PIC) moved the ice tea and placed proper cover over the containers.

Dollar Tree #7273, 1435 Marion Waldo Road, Marion, March 27. Unsafe, adulterated or not honestly presented food not discarded or properly reconditioned (critical, corrected during inspection). Observed dented cans for sale at the time of inspection. PIC removed cans from the shelf.

Walgreens #13680, 1040 Delaware Ave., Marion, March 27. Unsafe, adulterated or not honestly presented food not discarded or properly reconditioned (critical, corrected during inspection). Observed dented cans on the shelf for sale at the time of inspection. PIC removed dented cans from the shelf.

Marion Rural King, 233 America Blvd., Marion, March 29. Presence of live insects, rodents, and other pests (critical). Observed birds in the store at the time of inspection. PIC is working on getting the birds removed.

OhioHealth Marion General Hospital Cafeteria, 1000 McKinley Park Blvd., Marion, March 29. Quaternary ammonium sanitizing solution at incorrect temperature, concentration and/or water hardness (critical, corrected during inspection). Observed the sanitizer buckets to not meet the required concentration. PIC dumped sani buckets and retested. Equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are unclean (critical, corrected during inspection). Observed the ice shoot at the self service pop machine in the café to have an accumulation of build up. PIC had employee clean and sanitize the ice shoot during the inspection.
