Here are the 11 Marion County school districts ranked from largest to smallest achievement gaps between students of color and white students in each ILEARN testing category.

In every ILEARN testing subject, which tests for proficiency in Math and English/language arts from third to the eighth grade, Washington Township consistently has the biggest achievement gap across every racial demographic recorded by the state.

Achievement gaps 2022 ILEARN English/language arts:

  • Washington Township: 46.8%

  • Pike Township: 37.3%

  • Lawrence Township: 33.8%

  • Indianapolis Public Schools: 31.3%

  • Speedway Schools: 24.5%

  • Beech Grove City Schools: 15.1%

  • Warren Township: 14.3%

  • Franklin Township: 12.4%

  • Perry Township: 10.6%

  • Wayne Township: 8.7%

  • Decatur Township: 7.3%

  • Pike Township: 38.4%

  • Lawrence Township: 33.6%

  • Beech Grove City Schools: 13.3%

  • Franklin Township: 12.2%

  • Wayne Township: 9.8%

  • Perry Township: 9.7%

  • Decatur Township: 9.7%
