Marion County Sheriff's deputies search for missing Salem woman, 74, with dementia

The Marion County Sheriff's Office continues to search for a 74-year-old woman with early-onset dementia last seen on Thursday.

The search for Teresita Afanador Lemus began late Thursday night after her family reported her missing.

The sheriff's office learned Friday morning that she was last seen at Hollywood Drive NE and Ash Grove Drive NE in Salem around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Lemus who is described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 130 pounds with shoulder-length black hair and a dark blue headband, an American flag lanyard draped around her neck and a yellow watch on her right hand with a golden rosary. She was wearing a black leather jacket, black shirt, gray and black leggings, black shoes and is reported to be carrying two black purses.

The sheriff's office is asking for the public's help in the northeast Salem area to check any home surveillance, their backyards and surrounding properties for signs of Lemus.

Assisting with the search are Marion County Search and Rescue volunteers and coordinators, Region 3 Search and Rescue K9 team, Sheriff's Office Detectives as well as patrol deputies.

Those who see Lemus are asked to call 503-588-5032 and keep her in their sight.
