Marion County This Week: Christian musicians to be featured at Popcorn Festival

Christian musicians of all genres will be featured during the 42nd Marion Popcorn Festival later this week.

The lineup includes artists from the local area as well as regional acts from around Ohio and the Midwest. All shows will be held on the Bold Word Stage at Founders Park, 164 S. Main St. in downtown Marion. Admission is free.

Bands will be playing contemporary Christian music (CCM), rock, rap, country, metal, southern gospel, and southern rock all three days of the festival, which runs Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 7-9.

Thursday, Sept. 7

  • 11 a.m. - Glory Baptist Church (worship service)

  • 12:05 p.m. - Vibe Tribe (rap/hip hip)

  • 1:10 p.m. - Paul Lyons (CCM/southern gospel)

  • 2:30 p.m. - Slaw Dog (blues/rock)

  • 3:50 p.m. - Chains Off (hard rock)

  • 5:10 p.m. - Stones Cry Out (CCM/rock)

  • 6:30 p.m. - Safe Kept (indie rock)

Friday, Sept. 8

  • 11 a.m. - Shining Light Baptist Church (worship service)

  • 12 p.m. - Jesus Phreak Blues

  • 12:30 p.m. - Glenn Montis (CCM/traditional)

  • 1:15 p.m. - Jeremy Liles (CCM/traditional/country)

  • 2:15 p.m. - JD & the Good News Singers (country/southern gospel)

  • 3:15 p.m. - Stars Will Fall (hard rock)

  • 4:15 p.m. - Damac (rap/hip hop)

  • 5 p.m. - Weapons of God (hard rock/metal)

Farmers markets this week

The La Rue Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at 350 N. High St. in La Rue. Fresh produce and other items will be available. A food truck will be on site. For information, text 740-361-8078.

The Prospect Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 200 E. Water St. in Prospect.
