Marion County This Week: Waldo Summer Festival returns this weekend

The Waldo Summer Festival will have some of the best regional musical acts in central and north central Ohio on its stage this Friday and Saturday. The annual festival is set for July 14-15 on the streets of Waldo.

Six acts are scheduled to perform at Waldo Summer Festival with Prospect-based musician Dan Herriott leading off the entertainment at 5 p.m. on Friday. The veteran of more than four decades in the music business, Herriott entertains audiences with his collection of country, southern rock, blues, and acoustic offerings.

"Not too heavy, not too light" rock and roll band Hard Drive will take the Waldo Summer Festival stage at 8 p.m. on Friday. Consisting of Dan Davis, Trev Kincaid, Bobby Harbin, and Bob Verity, Hard Drive gives its audiences a wide range of selections spanning the decades. Hard Drive is a favorite at local and regional establishments and festivals, including the OK Cafe's Bike Night and 3rd Thursdays in Marion.

Saturday's lineup features four more talented local musicians. laying everything from country, blues, and rock, to folk and alternative music, Craig Ridgeway will lead off the entertainment at 11:30 a.m. His eclectic setlists include tunes from Johnny Cash, Billy Joel, Tracy Chapman, Pink Floyd, Van Morrison, Marshall Tucker Band, Four Non Blondes, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Marion-based Jerry Lee Morgan takes the Waldo Summer Festival stage at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The talented country musician is a favorite at many local and regional events in Ohio.

The Rock Shop, a group of music students from the Delaware Music Center, will be performing at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

New Bloomington native Chad Clark takes the Waldo Summer Festival stage at 3 p.m. on Saturday. From playing his first gig in his hometown at age 15 to sharing the stage with country music legends like Charlie Daniels, Tammy Wynette, Louise Mandrell, and Montgomery Gentry, Clark has seen his career take off. His new album, "It's About Time," dropped earlier this year and includes hits like "Break the Spell," "What You Left Behind," "They Live On," "Deep Hollow Road," and "Lord Knows." Clark wrote all of the songs on the album.

"Four fun people bringing you a fresh sound with tons of variety, rock, pop, and more" is what fans can expect when Left of Center hits the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday at Waldo Summer Festival. The Marion-based band is another regional favorite that has headlined many events. Left of Center is scheduled to open for Black Stone Cherry on Sept. 9 at the Marion Popcorn Festival.

Farmers markets this week

The Downtown Marion Farmers Market is open from 4 to 7 p.m. each Thursday through Oct. 19. Vendors set up along Center St. between Main and Prospect streets. The Prospect Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 200 E. Water St. in Prospect.
