MARION — The Marion Harding Athletic Hall of Fame recently expanded by five members, and the 30th induction class will be honored April 14 at 6 p.m. at the high school.

The newcomers are Heidi Clark (class of 2005), Shawn Dyer (2010), Shawnta' Dyer (2010), Brenae Harris (2011) and Sarah Woodrum (2009). Longtime coach and athletic department supporter Scott McCrery was given the Special Recognition Award for his service to the district.

Heidi Clark

Clark earned 12 varsity letters as a cross country runner, swimmer and track and field standout.

In cross country, Clark was the program's MVP two times and broke a 19-year-old school record at the Marysville Invitational in a time that still ranks No. 2 in Harding history. She helped the Presidents to a second-place finish in the Ohio Heartland Conference and a regional berth.

In track, she was a pioneer as one of the first female pole vaulters at the school as well as a distance running standout.

She made her biggest splash in the pool, where she was an OHC champ in four events and helped set relay records in the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle which still stand today. She scored the most points on the team in three of her four varsity seasons. Clark qualified for the Division I district championships in the maximum number of events all four years, and she was named National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Academic All-American in 2005 as her class's valedictorian.

Shawn Dyer

Dyer was a three-year varsity member of the boys basketball team and at the time became the second player in program history to reach 1,000 points for his career.

As a sophomore, he led the Presidents in scoring with 12.9 points per game, and as a junior, he was the team's MVP and leading scorer at 16.1 points a night.

His senior year was a historic one for the program, leading the Prexies to a 20-2 record and 10-0 Greater Buckeye Conference championship. It was the first winning season since 1993-94 and the second most wins in Harding history, trailing only the 24 earned by the 1963 state runner-up squad.

In2009-10, Dyer led the team in scoring at 20.3 points per game, plus rebounds, assists and free throw shooting. He was first-team GBC, District 6, Northwest District and third-team All-Ohio in Division I. He was also District 6 Player of the Year.

Shawnta' Dyer

The twin sister to Shawn Dyer, she set the standard for girls basketball at Harding as a four-year performer, helping the Presidents to four straight district championship games, winning the district title as a sophomore.

Dyer is the school's all-time leading scorer and the holder of the single-game scoring mark with 44 points. As a junior, the 6-foot-1 forward averaged 25 points and eight rebounds a game to earn special mention All-Ohio in Division I as well as the GBC and District 6 Player of the Year.

As a senior, she helped the Prexies to a 23-1 record and district runner-up finish, while posting 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game. She was a second-team All-Ohio pick in 2009-10.

She finished her high school career as a four-time first-team pick in the GBC and a three-time first-teamer in District 6 with a second-team nod as a sophomore. In her final prep season, she was ranked the No. 56 women's basketball prospect nationally by ESPN's HoopGurlz, was a McDonald's All-American nominee and was MVP of the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game.

Brenae Harris

Harris was a two-sport star, competing in girls basketball and track and earning All-Ohio honors in both.

She was a four-year varsity performer in basketball and a four-year All-GBC pick, winning Player of the Year twice in the league. She was All-Northwest District and was a two-time District 6 Player of the Year. As a junior, she was honorable mention All-Ohio in Division I and a second-team selection as a senior.

In track, Harris was a relay runner and sprinter as well as a high jumper, but she was one of the top long jumpers in the state. She was a four-time regional qualifier in the long jump and a two-time state qualifier in Division I, finishing fourth as a junior in 17-10.5 and sixth as a senior in 17-10.25 to earn All-Ohio in each season.

In 2010, she set the school record with a leap of 18-3.5 to win the district championship as a junior. In fact, she was a three-time long jump district champ. Harris was a four-time Ontario Invitational long jump winner, a three-time long jump winner at the Marion Night Invitational, also winning the high jump in 2011, and set the Lexington Invitational long jump record at 17-10.5 which stood until 2019. She was the girls track MVP for Harding in 2010 and 2011.

Sarah Woodrum

Woodrum earned nine varsity letters in track and field, cross country and girls basketball.

She was a two-year varsity performer in basketball, earning second-team honors in the GBC and District 6 as a member of the 2008-09 district finalist squad.

In cross country, she currently sits sixth all-time on the Marion Harding record board with a time of 19:57 and was a all-league runner.

With track, she was a standout sprinter, earning regional trips all four years and three state berths. Woodrum was a part of four meet records in her career and two school marks, running as part of the 4x800 relay as a sophomore in 9:52.51 and running the 400 meters in 55.91, a record that still stands.

Woodrum won seven conference championships, earned two district titles and made the regionals in eight events over her career. She went to state in the 400 as a sophomore, junior and senior, and as a senior, she scored 40 points in winning GBC titles in the 100, 400, 4x200 and 4x100 events.

Scott McCrery

McCrery is a 1969 graduate of Harding where he played on the baseball team.

He has been an assistant softball coach since 2001 and an assistant bowling coach since 2015. He worked the football sidelines as part of the chain gang from 1987 to 2009; he did football stats for the program from 2010 to 2015; and he's been a spotter in the press box since 2016. McCrery served as the boys basketball PA announcer from 1986 to 2003.

From 1983 to 2021, he has attended every Harding football game at home and on the road, missing only three contests.
