Marion man killed in fatal crash Saturday, troopers investigating

Ryan M. Cox, 36, of Marion, was killed in a fatal crash Saturday night in Marion County.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Marion Post are investigating the crash that occurred at approximately 8:55 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of County Road 26 and County Road 174.

According to the release, Cox failed to stop at the intersection when traveling northbound on County Road 174 in a 2014 Honda CR-V. He then traveled off the north side of County Road 26, striking an irrigation ditch. The vehicle then overturned onto its side.

Cox was pronounced deceased on scene by the Marion County Coroner. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A canine was located inside the vehicle, and it sustained minor injuries.

As of Monday morning the crash was still under investigation, according to Marion Post Commander Lieutenant Lance Shearer.
