Marion Merchants 16U baseball team wins title

MARION — The Marion Merchants 16U Allen squad defeated the West Virginia Diamond Nine 4-0 in the championship finale at the Kenton Beat the Heat Tourney last weekend.

En route to the championship, the Merchants defeated the Fostoria American Legion twice and the Kenton Wildcats.

The 2022 Marion Merchants 16U Allen team is made from players from Westerville North, Marion Harding, Ontario, Seneca East, Elgin, Norwalk St. Paul, Galion and Lexington.

Members of the team are Elijah Sayre, Cooper Dreibelbus, Maddox McGuire, Jake Chapman, Aiden Hines, Steven Castillo, Caden Fritz, Bradley Pennington, Luke Blum, Austin Allen, Tracey Watson, Wyatt Frazier, Derek Prosser, head coach C.J. Allen, coach Luke McGuire, assistant coach Brian Dreibelbus and assistant coach Jim Blum.
