Marion motorcyclist killed in crash on Ohio 97 near Mansfield

The Mansfield post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed a Marion man Sunday on Ohio 97 at Gass Road in Troy Township in Richland County.

The crash was reported at 6:05 p.m.

According to the patrol, a 2007 Ford Fusion being driven by Trenton Hoffer, 20, of Mansfield, was traveling east on Ohio 97 and two motorcycles were traveling west on Ohio 97. A 1998 Harley Davidson Electra Glide was driven by Jeffrey D. Kight, 60, of Marion, and a 1999 Harley Davidson Night Train, was driven by Scott T. Bullion, 54, of Marion.

The Fusion failed to yield while turning left onto Gass Road, striking both motorcycles, according to the patrol.

Kight, Bullion, and a female occupant of the 2007 Ford Fusion were transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Kight died at the hospital, the patrol said andBullion suffered serious injuries, the patrol said.

The Mansfield post continues to investigate the crash. Assisting at the scene were the Lexington Police Department, Troy Township Fire and EMS, Washington Township EMS and Springfield Township Fire and EMS.
