Milo Yiannopoulos, right-wing gay troll turned “ex-gay,” has found a new home with someone who seems to be a kindred spirit — he is now an unpaid intern in anti-LGBTQ+ U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s office.

Greene confirmed the information to various media outlets, including the right-leaning Washington Examiner and the left-leaning Daily Beast. “So I have an intern that was raped by a priest as a young teen, was gay, has offended everyone at some point, turned his life back to Jesus and church, and changed his life,” she said. “Great story!”

She spoke after Yiannopoulos had shared a photo to his Telegram account showing him with a congressional intern badge.

“I’ve finally been persuaded out of retirement. But my skills are a bit rusty, so the best role I could land was an unpaid internship with a friend. Pray for me!” Yiannopoulos wrote, the Beast reports.

Right Wing Watch posted it on its Twitter feed as well.

The two have much in common. Both Yiannopoulos and Greene are known for outrageous statements that usually have no basis in fact. Yiannopoulos resigned as a tech writer for the far-right Breitbart website in 2017 after an interview surfaced in which he defended sex between men and boys, saying it was only pedophilia if the boy hadn’t reached puberty. The incident also got him disinvited from the Conservative Political Action Conference and cost him a book deal with Simon & Schuster.

He said at the time that he’d been sexually abused by a priest, but added, “I’m grateful for Father Michael. I wouldn’t give nearly such good head if it wasn’t for him.” He said later, “I will not apologize for dealing with my life experiences in the best way that I can, which is humor.”

Yiannopoulos has also been infamous for putting down transgender people, feminists, Muslims, and activists for racial and social justice. Last year, he declared that he is no longer gay, and he began promoting conversion therapy. He said he was “never wholly at home in the gay lifestyle” and “only leaned heavily into it in public because it drove liberals crazy to see a handsome, charismatic, intelligent gay man riotously celebrating conservative principles.”

This year, he connected Greene with the America First Political Action Conference, a gathering of white supremacists. Conference organizer Nick Fuentes, in introducing Greene as a speaker, publicly thanked Yiannopoulos for making that happen.

Greene, for her part, has promoted many bizarre conspiracy theories and made numerous homophobic and transphobic statements. Most recently, the Republican congresswoman from Georgia said authority figures are influencing children to become gay, trans, or gender-nonconforming. “Probably in about four or five generations, no one will be straight anymore,” she said in a social media livestream. “Everyone will be either gay or trans or nonconforming or whatever the list of 50 or 60 different options there are.”

That address also included the assertion that all Americans will soon be forced to each meat substitutes grown in a “peach tree dish” (she meant Petri dish). She alleged that Bill Gates was behind the plot.

In addition, she has called the Democratic Party “the party of pedophiles” and trolled a House colleague, Democrat Marie Newman of Illinois, because Newman is the supportive mother of a transgender daughter. Greene last year hung an anti-trans sign outside her office, which is near Newman’s, while Newman displayed a trans flag.
