ON THE MARK: Bartlesville gymnasts display plenty of skills, moxie at AAU competition
More than a dozen Bartlesville Gymnastics Club warriors gave their all during a recent AAU competition at the Airborne Invitational in Sapulpa.
Offering an AAU program is one of the recent upgrades by the club.
“This group of athletes are all competing in AAU,” said Lorrie Bertolet, the club’s executive director. “This is our second year to do AAU and our coaches and athletes are doing a great job.”
The club continues to be one of the oldest participants in USA Gymnastics competition, as well.
At the Sapulpa battle, several Bartlesville club girls displayed impressive skills.
Angel Parrett (10 A2—Senior B) powered to the All-Around championship of her division.
She scored 36.55 All-Around points while winning on the vault (9.2), the uneven bars (9.2) and the balance beam (9.3).
Also winning an All-Around title was Ariel Morales (8 A3-Senior A), with 37.1 All-Around points. Morales won two events — the vault (9.65) and the beam (9.5).
Charli Mccabe (8 A3-Senior B) clawed to second-place All-Around (35.05). She claimed second on both the vault (9.54) and the bars (8.5).
Conley Shalynn (8 A3-Senior B) came in third-place All-Around (34.75). She ruled on the vault (9.7).
