Mark your calendars: Picking the top Central Mass. boys' basketball games of the week

There are plenty of great high school boys' basketball games slated for this week in Central Mass. If you're looking to watch some of the action, Rich Garven takes a look at some of the best of the bunch that can't be missed.

Gardner (7-1) at Bromfield (6-1)

6:30 p.m. Tuesday

The Wildcats are off to a 7-1 start and sit atop the Mid-Wach D with a 4-0 mark as they play the first of five consecutive road games over a two-week span while the Trojans are 6-1 (1-1) and holding opponents to 42.3 points a game.

Lunenburg (7-2) at Clinton (6-3)

7 p.m. Tuesday

The Blue Knights carry a 7-2 record that includes a 4-1 mark on the road and six wins in their past seven games into this Mid-Wach C matchup with the Gaels, who are 6-3 overall, 2-2 at home and have seen their last two games decided by five points apiece (win over Hudson, loss to Maynard).

Shepherd Hill (10-0) at Oakmont (8-0)

7 p.m. Tuesday

It’s a meeting of unbeatens as the 10-0 Rams and senior Ryan Brooks and junior Lucas Miglionico travel North to take on the 8-0 Spartans and the high-scoring Hulecki brothers (Brandon and Ryan) in the first of two Mid-Wach B showdowns.

Valley Tech (4-3) at Bay Path (4-4)

6:30 p.m. Tuesday

The Beavers (4-3, 3-0) come in undefeated in the Colonial Athletic League and in search of their first three-game winning streak of the season while the Minutemen take the court for the second straight night after playing Quaboag on Monday.

Wachusett (2-5) at North (9-2)

Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.

The Polar Bears, who faced Eastern Mass heavyweight Lawrence on Sunday in Boston, host the 2-5 Mountaineers, whom they defeated, 60-41, in the season opener for both Division 1 teams on Dec. 13 in Holden.

Doherty (9-2) at South (7-3)

6:30 p.m. Wednesday

Points figure to be plentiful in this Inter-High matchup as the 9-2 Highlanders come in averaging 68.8 a game with senior Azeir McClain-Hines checking in at 18.3 while the 7-3 Colonels are putting up 66.6 per game with junior Alex Johnson accounting for 24.1

Hopedale (7-1) at Sutton (6-1)

6:30 p.m. Wednesday

The Blue Raiders (7-1, 4-0) have won all of their games by double-digits while the Sammies (6-1, 4-0) carry a four-game winning streak into this Dual Valley Conference dandy that will give the winner sole possession of first place.

Springfield International (6-1) at Millbury (7-3)

6:30 p.m. Wednesday

An enticing non-league matchup as the 7-3 Woolies, winners of four straight by double digits and 12th in the latest Division 4 power rankings, host the 6-1 Bulldogs, whose only loss is to Division 1 Springfield Central in overtime and are 10th in the D4 rankings.

Bartlett (4-3) at David Prouty (10-0)

6:30 p.m. Friday

A pair of returning T&G Super Team selections share the court as senior Braeden White (17.1 ppg) and the 10-0 Panthers host senior Ethan Minarik (Central Mass.-best 31.9 ppg) and the Indians, who entered the week 4-3.
