Mark your calendars: Picking the top Central Mass. boys' basketball games of the week

There are plenty of great high school boys' basketball games slated for this week in Central Mass. If you're looking to watch some of the action, Rich Garven takes a look at some of the best of the bunch that can't be missed.

Nipmuc at Douglas

6:30 p.m. Wednesday

The Warriors take the court seeking to win back-to-back games for the first time in this young season while the Tigers look to bounce back from a road loss to Division 1 Framingham on Monday in this Dual Valley Conference matchup.

North at Doherty

6:30 p.m., Wednesday

The Polar Bears, who hosted Newton North, the top-ranked team in Eastern Mass. on Tuesday, meet Doherty, which started the season with six wins before losing to St. John’s, in the Inter-High opener for both teams. A bit of advice: arrive early as parking and seating will be at a premium.

Valley Tech at Uxbridge

6:30 p.m. Thursday

The Beavers, out of the Colonial Athletic League, come in 1-1 against Southern Worcester County League opponents and seeking to get over .500 for the first time while the Spartans entered the week 4-3 with setbacks to Division 3 Tantasqua and Division 1 Milford.

Hudson at Clinton

7 p.m. Friday

The Mid-Wach C is shaping up to be one super competitive league as five of its seven members entered the week with a winning record. The Gaels will look to protect home court against the 4-3 Hawks, whose losses are to Northbridge by five points, Tyngsborough by two and Oakmont by three.

Leominster at Nashoba

7 p.m. Friday

The Blue Devils, who started the week 4-1, make the short drive to Bolton to play their sixth straight road game. They Wolves are waiting for them with a 2-2 record, the losses coming by two points to Shepherd Hill and four points to Tantasqua.

Wachusett at Algonquin

7 p.m. Friday

The Mountaineers snapped a season-opening, four-game losing streak with a win over Mid-Wach A rival Shrewsbury the last time out. Now they’ll face another perennial powerful league foe in the Titans, who entered the week having won two of three after an 0-3 start.

Sutton at Bartlett

1:30 p.m. Saturday

This marks the third game in four days for the Sammies, who started the stretch by hosting Dual Valley Conference foes Whitinsville Christian and Nipmuc Regional. The Indians, who are led by Central Mass scoring leader Ethan Minarik, will also be finishing off a three-game week.
