Mark Your Calendars—Starbucks Officially Announced the PSL’s Return Date

Mark your calendars: The return of the PSL has been confirmed. Starbucks announced that its most iconic fall drink, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, will be back in stores nationwide Tuesday, August 27.

Rather than roll out the fanfare à la 2017’s elaborate Facebook livestream, the brand announced the date on Twitter: “It’s official. PSL returns 8/27!” The news comes following Tweets and Reddit comments from loose-lipped baristas who spilled the (coffee) beans prematurely.

The 27th is the PSL’s earliest official return date ever, according to Business Insider. Last year, the drink came back August 28; in 2016 and 2017, it was added to menus September 1. As always, the PSL can be ordered in hot or iced latte form, as the Starbucks gods intended, or as a Frappuccino blended beverage. Pumpkin spice sauce can also be added to plain iced or hot coffee.

This is the Starbucks drink’s 16th anniversary. But until its launch, if you’re looking to stock up on the good stuff, Starbucks rolled out a whole line of at-home pumpkin products you can find at your grocery store: Pumpkin Spice Latte–flavored K-Cups, ground coffee, VIA Instant, Ready-to-Drink PSLs, and Pumpkin Spice Cookie Straws included.

Break out your fall sweaters: Starbucks’ drink of the season, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, might have a return date. While a spokesperson for the brand said Starbucks is “not quite ready to reveal our plans for this year,” baristas have been tweeting about the return and several told Business Insider the drink will be back in stores Tuesday, August 27.

A commenter in a recent Reddit thread also mentioned that date: “Boss told me August 27th. Not 100% sure though” (and another did in this thread). If true, that’s a day earlier than last year’s August 28 return date and four days sooner than 2016 and 2017, when the PSL wasn’t released until September 1.

Over at Dunkin’, PSLs will be back for a hot second (one day, to be exact) this Wednesday, August 14, before returning for the season August 24. Pillsbury is also getting a head start on the season with its newly announced fall/Halloween products.
