Mark your calendars; you won’t want to miss these upcoming real estate events

From 2020 predictions to the growth of budding live-work-play neighborhoods, Re|source suggests these eight events for your winter calendar:

Jan. 8: The public is invited to attend a City of Miami Sunshine Meeting from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Miami City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive. City commissioners and their staff will review the Miami Affordable Housing Master Plan prepared by the Florida International University Jorge M. Perez Metropolitan Center that lays out a 10-year strategy to address the area’s affordable housing shortage.

Jan. 9: The Miami Association of Realtors will host the discussion “Help your foreign investors use real estate for immigration purposes” on Thursday, Jan. 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Weston-based attorney Don Gonzalez will discuss visas available to foreign investors and investment strategies and tax implications pertaining to international buyers. Jan. 13: The industry group Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) hosts its “2020 Economic Outlook and Public Policy” luncheon at the Four Seasons Brickell at 1435 Brickell Ave. on Monday, Jan. 13. CRE Real Estate Economist Hugh Kelly and accounting firm Grant Thornton’s Public Policy representative Mary Moore Hamrick will discuss what the year holds for commercial real estate from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Free for members with pre-paid lunch; other attendees $55 to $85. Jan. 15: The Florida CCIM Chapter of Miami-Dade/Monroe District hosts the “2020 Commercial Real Estate Outlook” session on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Coral Gables County Club at 997 North Giveway Dr., Coral Gables, slated for 7:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Keynote speaker K.C. Conway CCIM Institute Chief Economist, will lead the discussion with including market analysts from Fairchild Partners, Berkadia, CBRE and Azor Advisory Services. Tickets $60 to $89. Register here.

Jan. 16: The Commercial Industrial Association of South Florida presents the “2020 Industrial Market Report” on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center at 711 NW 72nd Ave. , Miami, 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Speakers include Tom Dixon and Andrew Dixon of Dixon Commercial Real Estate and Jose Juncadella and Sebastian Juncadella of Fairchild Partners. Jan. 23: The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s “2020 Vision” economic summit is Thursday, Jan. 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Jungle Island at 1111 Parrot Jungle Island, Miami. Dr. Eduardo Padron, president Emeritus Miami Dade College, will kick off the discussion. Breakout sessions include Business Talk: Miami & New York.

Jan. 29: The NAIOP’s South Florida chapter hosts its “2020 Economic outlook event” on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at 550 Building at 550 S. Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale. Moderator Darcie Lunsford, executive vice president of Butters Realty & Management, will lead the discussion on the intersection between the economy, economic predictions, politics and real estate.
