Mark Hamill's Netflix horror The Fall of the House of Usher confirms release date with first-look photos

Netflix series The Fall of the House of Usher has confirmed a release date alongside a number of first-look stills.
The horror show, which stars Star Wars' Mark Hamill, comes from The Haunting of Hill House's Mike Flanagan and is based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe.
The streamer has now confirmed that the eight-episode miniseries will drop on October 12 – just in time for Halloween season.

The first stills show stars including Hamill, who plays "a character surprisingly at home in the shadows", as well as Flanagan regulars Carla Gugino, T'Nia Miller, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel and Rahul Kohli in their roles.
The show is based on Poe's short story The Fall of the House of Usher among others, with Flanagan previously describing it as "a modern remix of some of the most iconic works of Edgar Allan Poe".

"To tell this epic tale of greed, horror, and tragedy, we have assembled the largest ensemble cast in the history of Intrepid Pictures," he added.
The series stars Bruce Greenwood (replacing original star Frank Langella) as Roderick Usher, who is "the towering patriarch of the Usher dynasty", while Mary McDonnell will portray "Roderick's twin sister Madeline Usher and the hidden hand of the Usher dynasty".

The story sees the ruthless twins, who have built a pharmaceutical empire, faced with past secrets coming to light as their heirs start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.
The series also features Carl Lumbly, Michael Trucco, Paola Nuñez, Kyliegh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney and Robert Longstreet.
The Fall of the House of Usher will stream on Netflix from October 12.
