Mark Henry to continue as Clinton County Legislature chair

Jan. 5—PLATTSBURGH — It's a new year for local government, but the leadership playing field will look pretty much the same.

At the Clinton County Legislature re-organizational meeting Thursday night, Mark Henry was chosen once again to be the legislature chair.

"I am honored to continue serving as chair of the Clinton County Legislature," Henry (R-Area 3, Chazy) said.

"Our focus remains steadfast on meeting the needs of our community. We are committed to prioritizing initiatives that foster economic development, enhance education, improve healthcare, and strengthen public safety, benefiting all residents."

Henry said that by attracting new businesses and investments, the county will aim to create a thriving local economy, generating job opportunities and fortifying the community.

"Together, through collaborative efforts, we can contribute to the overall well-being of our citizens in every aspect of their lives," he said.

Henry has served as chair since 2020.

Robert Hall (D-Area 10, City of Plattsburgh) was also re-elected as deputy chair of the legislature.

"Maintaining stability and effective governance is crucial for our County's progress," Hall said.

"I look forward to continuing as deputy chair and working collaboratively with my colleagues to enhance services for residents. We are committed to ensuring that our community remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family."

Rob Timmons (R-Area 7, Peru) was kept on as majority leader.

"I'm enthusiastic about the future of Clinton County, and our ongoing commitment to enhancing essential services for residents," Timmons said.

"We will continue to collaborate on initiatives that elevate education, healthcare, and public safety, placing a strong emphasis on the welfare of our citizens. By working together, we aim to contribute to the overall quality of life in our community."

Patty Waldron (D-Area 6, Saranac) will continue as minority leader.

"Together, we are dedicated to making things better for the residents of Clinton County," Waldron said.

"We're committed to working together to help our local businesses grow. I look forward to continuing working with my legislative colleagues to find common sense solutions that spur our region's growth."

Henry said legislature committee assignments, including chairs for 2024, will be done in about a week.
