Mark Ruffalo Chooses Chaos, Fires Random Shots at 'Star Wars'

Mark Ruffalo seems like a pretty chill dude. Someone I'd want to grab a beer with. In fact, he seems like the kind of pretty chill dude who, after said beer, would get a little feisty. Say that thing he's always wanted to say, but really shouldn't.
It's my pleasure to report that Ruffalo—who is already in his 10th (!) year of playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Hulk—said the thing he probably shouldn't say. It's a fun one. And no beer required. In an interview with Metro.co.uk, the actor, who has starred in approximately 22 superhero movies, was asked, quite simply, if there's too much Marvel content out there in the wild. (There most definitely is.) “It’s not something I worry about,” Ruffalo said. “I understand that these things run their course and then something else comes along. But the thing Marvel has done well is that, inside the MCU, just as they do with comic books, they let a director or an actor sort of recreate each piece to their own style, their likeness. Marvel generally lets them bring that to the material.”
A very judicious answer! Well done, Mark Ruffa—wait. He kept going. “If you watch a Star Wars [show or movie] you’re pretty much going to get the same version of Star Wars each time. It might have a little bit of humor. It might have a little bit of different animation. But you’re always, really, in that same kind of world. But with Marvel you can have a whole different feeling, even within the Marvel Universe.”
I hate to break it to you, Mr. Ruffalo, but Marvel has a bit of a house style, too. Which isn't a bad thing, of course. When you show up to a MCU jam, you can expect a certain blend of action and comedy, but usually with a different skew each time. (Courtroom drama! Cold war thriller!) Star Wars is struggling nowadays, sure, but let's uplift our fellow buddies under the Disney umbrella, yeah?
