Mark Ruffalo joins crime drama from Mare of Easttown creator

Marvel's Mark Ruffalo has been cast in an untitled crime drama from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby.
The HBO show will follow a task force of law enforcement officers and the criminals they are trying to apprehend, according to Deadline.
Further plot and cast details are yet to be confirmed, but we do know that Ruffalo will star in the limited series, as well as executive produce alongside the show's writer, Ingelsby, and director, Jeremiah Zagar.
Deadline also reported that the script was completed and Ruffalo's deal closed before the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike began in early May, while no additional development has happened since.
The series marks both Ruffalo and Ingelsby's return to HBO, with the former having won an Emmy for his role in I Know This Much Is True in 2020, while the latter earned four for Mare of Easttown.
"We are absolutely thrilled to once again to join forces with Brad Ingelsby, the brilliant auteur behind Mare of Easttown," Francesca Orsi, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, said in a statement.

"When the opportunity arose to partner with Mark on another series, we all jumped at the chance to witness him once again breathe great humanity into a new role."
Later this year, Ruffalo will star in Netflix's adaptation of Anthony Doerr's war novel All the Light We Cannot See, as well as an adaptation of Alasdair Gray's Poor Things opposite Oscar-winner Emma Stone .
Poor Things will be released in cinemas on September 8. All the Light We Cannot See premieres on Netflix on November 2.
