Mark Zuckerberg Donates $800,000 To Favorite Restaurants
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Businesses big and small in San Francisco and across the nation are struggling to stay afloat because of coronavirus closures. Several restaurants have already announced that they will not reopen.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, who have homes in San Francisco, Palo Alto and elsewhere, have donated $800,000 to eight of their favorite restaurants in San Francisco and on the Peninsula to help keep them in business.
The $100,000 gifts to each of the restaurants come with no strings attached, according to Palo Alto Online. The money can be used to pay rent, pay staff, donate meals to first responders, or whatever the owners choose.
The San Francisco restaurants that received the gifts are La Ciccia in Noe Valley and The Liberties Bar & Grill on Guerrero Street.
Down the Peninsula, gifts went to:
Sushi Sam's Edomata in San Mateo
Vesta in Redwood City
Chef Chu's in Los Altos
Dohatsutenin in Palo Alto
Fuki Sushi in Palo Alto
Palo Alto Sol in Palo Alto
