On the market in Palm Beach: Priced at $4.8M, this condo has been ‘a blessing,’ owner says

Like many residents of the Midwest, Jocelyn Cray of Clarkston, Michigan, has long enjoyed warm-weather getaways to Florida. She originally had vacation homes in Marco Island before she changed directions and headed to Florida’s East Coast.

“I was looking for a lifestyle change,” she explains, adding that she at first had her eye on Boca Raton. But her agent, Paulette Koch of the Corcoran Group, introduced her to Palm Beach, and Jocelyn began to look for properties on the island.

“I told Paulette that I wanted a place with a view of the ocean — otherwise, why bother? I’m coming to Florida to look at ocean waves. I also wanted something turnkey.

“I looked at a couple of places online, saw them with Paulette and loved this one,” she says of her South End condominium, No. 403N at Enclave, 3170 S. Ocean Blvd.

“I loved it. The breathtaking view was just what I wanted,” Cray recalls.

She bought the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath unit — with 3,612 square feet of living space inside and out — in late 2020 and enjoyed it — as did her husband, Andrew, their adult children and visiting friends.

Palm Beach condo is on the market, priced at $4.8 million

Initially, they visited eight to 10 weeks a year, she says, but more recently, they’ve made it down to Palm Beach for only a week or two.

So they have decided to sell the condo and have co-listed it with Koch and her son, Dana Koch, who also is a Corcoran Group agent. The price is $4.8 million, with the furniture available separately.

The apartment is on the fourth floor of the northernmost of the two-building complex. A terrace wraps around the Crays’ apartment, giving the main rooms a view of the ocean. The north portion of the terrace also offers a view of the Intracoastal Waterway.

The foyer and main hallway lead to the great room on the northeast corner of the building, a prime position that guarantees dramatic sea views. The living area opens to the formal dining space, which is separated from the kitchen area by a center work island with pull-up seating. A motorized privacy door can close off the kitchen off from the butler’s pantry, and a wet bar is nearby.

The result of this arrangement is that giving dinner parties is a breeze, Jocelyn says: When the doors to the pantry are closed, clean-up is out of sight and quiet.

On the east side of the condo is the main bedroom suite, with two closets, a dressing room and a bathroom with double vanities, walk-in shower and free-standing tub.

Off the main hallway is a room the Crays have used as an office and den, the powder room and the entrances to the two guest-bedroom suites. The laundry is off the foyer.

The Crays’ unit had been completely renovated by the previous owners, who rearranged the floorplan and installed new air-conditioning and other systems. They also replaced the sliding-glass doors with impact-resistant versions, added Lutron motorized black-out window shades, put in paneling and added a drop-down theater screen in the main bedroom.

“We just added our own personality to it — wallpaper, lighting, furniture,” she says, adding that she worked on the interiors with Kali Weber of Chatham House Interior Design in Bay Harbor, Michigan.

“We’ve absolutely loved it,” she says, “every member of our family. My husband has nicknamed the palm trees we see on the ocean side: Coco, Palmy and Chanel.”

Palm Beach condo development offers varied amenities

Floors throughout the condo are covered in imported white oak. Bathrooms are finished in stone and marble. The kitchen is fitted with white cabinetry, stone counters and professional-grade appliances.

The development comprises north and south seven-story buildings, with a total of 72 apartments. The lobbies and hallways have been newly renovated, and the complex has a pool, spa, deeded ocean access, a fitness center, tennis courts and a 24-hour-staffed gate house. There’s also a guest suite available for residents’ use.

Jocelyn says the service provided by the building’s staff was what she had hoped for.

“We’ve had a great experience. In addition to the security, Enclave offers so many services. They’ll clean our windows, take care of our car, bring up our groceries,” she says.

She says she will miss the condo but remains enamored of the town.

“We can’t spend the time in Palm Beach that we hoped,” she says. “When we first moved to the Enclave, I needed peace and calm, and our place gave those to me. It’s been a blessing. We want to come back to Palm Beach in five to seven years.”
