Marksville police officer charged with two counts of malfeasance after sexual assault complaint

A Marksville police officer has been arrested and charged with malfeasance in office and abuse of office.

According to a release issued by the Louisiana State Police, the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office contacted Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Alexandria Field Office on Thursday to investigate a complaint about an alleged sexual assault by Dana Adams, 45.

The release states the victim said Adams "committed a prohibited sexual act while acting in an official police capacity."

From the investigation and information obtained, LSP AFO secured an arrest warrant and charged Adams yesterday. He was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail. APSO assisted with the investigation

The investigation is still ongoing and the Louisiana State Police will serve as the lead investigative agency.
