Fiscal Officer Tracy Ferrett had nothing to report.

Fire Captain Hal Lehman from the Marlboro Township Volunteer Fire Co., Inc. reported:

  • In August 2022, 37 responses were logged. These included seven fire responses and 30 EMS calls with three motor-vehicle crashes, 19 transports to area hospitals and nine patient refusals. As of that meeting date, department was at 338 runs (four runs more than last year).

  • Marlboro Fire Department has partnered with the State Fire Marshal and is offering free smoke detectors to residents (limit one per household). Contact the station at 330-935-0280 for more details.

  • Marlboro Fire Department gave thanks to Portage County water rescue team and some area departments for Aug. 23 training at Walborn Stark Parks marina. They demonstrated how to locate and rescue missing persons on and in the water. The two dogs in the K9 crew also trained with them to help locate people that go missing on shore after a boating accident.

  • Trustee John Battershell asked whether the department has inspected the building/barn at Pontius Street and Ravenna Avenue, since it is wide open and going to fall. Lehman reported it is on their list but they have not yet been contacted by the owner to set a schedule for the inspection. He will pass the information along to Chief Matt Anstine.

Police Chief Ronald Devies was not present and did not leave a report.

Road Foreman Rick Bergert was not present, but Battershell reported the department completed the chip and seal program on Sept. 1.

Zoning Inspector Ed Stanley was not present, and Assistant Zoning Inspector Linda Marx had nothing to report.

Trustees reports

Trustee Ken Eddleman was not present and did not leave a report.

Trustee Wayne Schillig reported requesting Tom Erb to get quotes for doors for the police department and town hall meeting room. Also, he said he was in contact with Stark Parks about some different issues, and said he’d report on them at a later time.

Trustee John Battershell had nothing to report.

Other business

Trustees approved a motion to pay bills for $21,930.88. Schillig abstained from approving a $25 bill for Aden Miller. Because of Schillig’s move, the two other trustees must vote later to pay the bill.
