Marlington to celebrate homecoming Saturday

Marlington High School will celebrate homecoming this weekend.

Stella Blake and Ty Knoch will serve as Duke and Duchess at Saturday’s dance at Moulin Community Center at the high school in Lexington Township. The pair were chosen for the honor by the varsity fall athletes.

Blake, daughter of William and Jennifer Blake, is a member of the varsity cross country and track teams; president of the Class of 2024; and a member of Character Counts. Knoch, son of Joe and Becky Knoch, is a member of the varsity football team and basketball team.

There will be a Hollywood theme for the dance, with the colors of red and gold. Sponsor for the event is the Class of 2025. Friday’s home football game against West Branch will be the team’s homecoming game. The court members and their parents will be honored before the game.

Senior attendants are Elizabeth Mason and Connor Battershell. Mason, the daughter of Scott and Sheryl Mason, is a percussionist with the Marching Dukes of Marlington, and a captain on the varsity tennis, basketball and track teams. She is senior class vice president, and a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and the Tri-M music honors society. Battershell, son of Mike and Jeanine Battershell, is a member of the varsity boys golf team. He was a 2022 Buckeye Boys State delegate. Battershell is a Duke Crew leader, and member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Robotics Club, Rotary Interact Club and Character Counts.

Junior attendants are Gracie Henry and Andrew Hall. Henry, daughter of Jeff and Lindsey Henry, is a member of the varsity girls soccer team and ski club. Hall, son of Scott Hall, is a member of the golf and wrestling teams, SADD and the Robotics Club.

Sophomore attendants are Karlaysia West-Cole and Kar’Wan West-Cole. They are the children of Cevin West-Cole and Dr. John West. Karlaysia is a member of the soccer, football, bowling, track and softball teams. She is a member of Character Counts, Duchess Voices and Marlington Chorale, and participates in musical productions with Drama Dukes and Carnation City Players. Kar’Wan is a member of the soccer, swimming and track teams.

Freshman attendants are Quinn Cernansky and Robert Zigler. Cernansky, daughter of Ryan and Kim Cernansky, is a member of the cross country, track and cheerleading teams, and participates in advanced women's choir, Character Counts and is a Marlington Little Dukes cheer coach. Zigler, son of Robert and Meralyn Zigler, is on the JV soccer team.

Retiring Duchess and Duke are Ava Collins and Cohen Boyce.
