Marlington to celebrate winter homecoming
Marlington Local Schools will celebrate winter homecoming Friday night at its Winter Sports Dance.
The event will begin after the varsity boys basketball game.
Student Council will play host to the event in the Moulin Center, with adviser Lynn Francis. DJ Jerry Humes will provide music.
Marlington High School’s 2023 Winter Sports King and Queen are Casey Miller and Elizabeth Mason.
Mason, the daughter of Scott and Sheryl Mason, is captain of the varsity tennis, basketball and track teams. She is vice president of the Class of 2023, a peer tutor, member of National Honor Society, Rotary Interact Club, Spanish National Honor Society and the Marching Dukes of Marlington. She is also a member of Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Miller, son of Ryan and Heidi Miller, is a captain of the varsity basketball team and member of the varsity track team. In his free time, he enjoys hunting and watching sports.
The following students are attendants:
SENIORS – Maria Warner and Rolando “Jack” Ramirez. Warner, daughter of Dirk and Gina Warner, is a captain on the varsity golf and basketball teams. She is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Rotary Interact Club and a Duke Pound Leader. In her free time, she is a peer tutor, works with ELL students at the elementary schools and volunteers at her church. Ramirez, son of Rolando and Jacqueline Ramirez, is a captain on the varsity swim team. He is a member of the Marching Dukes of Marlington, Spanish National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
JUNIORS – Emma Phillips and Landon Kensinger. Phillips is the daughter of Mike and Virginia Phillips. Kensinger, son of Timothy and Dawn Kensinger, is a member of the varsity football team and Yearbook Club.
SOPHOMORES – Chloe Cantwell and Logan Betz. Cantwell, daughter of Mike and Rachel Cantwell, is a member of the track team, Character Counts Club, Rotary Interact Club and Drama Dukes. Betz, son of Brad and Kim Betz, is a member of the football team and works for Ralph Betz and Sons Excavating in his free time.
FRESHMEN – Lydia Duncan and Caden Dine. Duncan, daughter of Jared and Melissa Duncan, is a member of the softball team and also plays travel softball. Dine, son of David Dine and Dawn Butler, is a member of the football and basketball teams.
