A Marlington High School graduate took center stage Wednesday at the New York Stock Exchange, ringing the market's closing bell on Wall Street. Carey (Wurgler) Smith, a member of Marlington’s Class of 1981, is president and CEO of Parsons Corp., an American technology-focused defense and intelligence firm with its headquarters in Virginia. Parsons was celebrating its 2023 Investor Day on Wednesday. Smith also is a member of Ohio Northern University’s Class of 1985. Parsons, founded in 1944, employs more than 16,000 people. Smith in 2016 was named Marlington High School’s Alumni of the Year. Smith joined Parsons in 2016, and was promoted to CEO in 2018. Before joining Parsons, Smith worked in a variety of defense jobs, such as with Honeywell and Lockheed Martin.
