Marlins announce dates they will wear teal uniforms to celebrate 30th anniversary
The Miami Marlins will be wearing a lot of teal at a lot of their Friday home games this season.
The club had already announced a little more than a month ago their plans to have Flashback Fridays to commemorate the franchise’s 30-year anniversary, which was to include the occasional use of throwback uniforms.
But on Friday, the team announced it will be wearing its throwback uniforms — teal hats featuring a 30th-anniversary logo patch on the side, home white jerseys and pants with teal pinstripes — for 11 of their 13 Friday home games, starting with their first Friday game of the season on March 31 against the New York Mets.
The home games when they will wear the throwback uniforms are as follows:
▪ March 31 against the New York Mets
▪ April 14 against the Arizona Diamondbacks
▪ April 28 against the Chicago Cubs
▪ May 12 against the Cincinnati Reds
▪ June 23 against the Pittsburgh Pirates
▪ July 7 against the Philadelphia Phillies
▪ July 21 against the Colorado Rockies
▪ July 28 against the Detroit Tigers
▪ Aug. 11 against the New York Yankees
▪ Aug. 25 against the Washington Nationals
▪ Sept. 22 against the Milwaukee Brewers
The two Friday games that the team won’t be wearing teal: June 2 (Lou Gehrig Day) against the Oakland Athletics and Sept. 15 (Roberto Clemente Day) against the Atlanta Braves.
The Marlins last wore the teal uniforms during the 2018 season for a weekend series against the San Diego Padres to commemorate the organization’s 25th anniversary.
