Marquette drops a spot in this week's AP men's college basketball top 25

The Marquette men's basketball team is alone in first place in the Big East.

The Golden Eagles (20-6, 12-3) have five regular-season games remaining.

Where is Marquette ranked this week in the AP poll?

MU dropped to No. 11 in the latest Associated Press top 25 that was released Monday. The Golden Eagles were 10th last week, the highest they have been ranked since the poll on Feb. 25, 2019.

MU first entered the AP poll this season on Dec. 19. The Golden Eagles have been ranked every week since Jan. 9.

The Golden Eagles went 1-1 this week in road games against Connecticut and Georgetown

MU suffered its largest margin of defeat this season with an 87-72 loss to Connecticut on Tuesday at the XL Center in Hartford.

The Golden Eagles bounced back with a hot-shooting performance and 89-75 victory over Georgetown at Capital One Arena on Saturday.

Who does Marquette play this week?

The Golden Eagles have just one game this week but it will be one of their biggest of the season. MU faces Xavier at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fiserv Forum.

The Golden Eagles lead the Musketeers by a half-game in the standings. Xavier won the first matchup, 80-76, on Jan. 15 in Cincinnati.
