MARTA rail service restarting normal operations after power restored

Power to MARTA routes previously impacted by an outage has been restored, according to officials.

MARTA officials said rail service has been restarted for the Airport to College Park. Bus shuttle service was discontinued and normal operations are resuming on the north-south line.

The MARTA Service account on X, the social media service formerly known as Twitter, which provides updates on travel disruptions for passengers, reported the power issue had caused rail service to be paused from the airport to College Park.

A post on the service account said a power issue was impacting the trackway from the Airport to College Park, and that bus shuttle service will be provided to aid travel needs at Airport, College Park, and East Point.

MARTA officials said crews have restored power to the impacted stations and are now working to get trains running again.

Officials told Channel 2 Action News that they’ll update when the trains are ready for travel.

MARTAConnect bus service is in effect for the Airport, College Park, and East Point stations, with MARTA posting links for an $8 Lyft or Uber credit to assist travelers.

In the meantime, MARTA is urging passengers to stay diligent with severe weather still in the area.
