Martha Stewart rips Felicity Huffman's 'schlumpy' prison style

Martha Stewart doesn't approve of Felicity Huffman's prison style.

The lifestyle maven took part in "The Future of Cooking" panel alongside David Zaslav at Vanity Fair's New Establishment Summit to discuss Discovery's Food Network Kitchen this week, where CNN host Brian Stelter took a moment to ask Stewart her thoughts on Felicity Huffman being in prison and asked if she thinks the "Desperate Housewives" star has "learned anything" from her punishment.

"She should style her outfit a little bit more," Stewart quipped as the audience burst into laughter. "She looked pretty schlumpy."

The 78-year-old author was alluding to paparazzi photos that emerged over the weekend that showed Huffman in her prison uniform: A loose-fitting green top with matching pants, a baseball cap and glasses.

"She made a horrible mistake, horrible," she went on. "And she’s experiencing what happens when that terrible mistake happened."

Stelter then asked Stewart if she thinks that Huffman will be able to salvage her acting career once she's on the other side of her 14-day prison sentence.

"I don't know," she said. "I hope so."

Stewart, of course, was able to maintain her own career after serving five months behind bars at a federal prison in West Virginia in 2004 after being found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding and making false statements to federal investigators.

In her 2006 book, "The Martha Rules," Stewart recalled the iconic style moment she had when she was leaving the Alderson federal prison camp: "When I was released from prison, draped in a beautifully crocheted poncho from my friend and fellow inmate, Xiomara Hernandez, I knew it was time to assess my life again," she wrote.

Sounds like Felicity Huffman could learn a thing or two from Martha Stewart.
