Martin, Abilene Christian scorch Utah Valley in WAC women's basketball action
Addison Martin scored a game-high 20 points as Abilene Christian snapped a three-game losing streak with a 73-46 victory over Utah Valley in a Western Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Monday at Moody Coliseum.
Martin, a redshirt freshman, hit 10-of-12 shots from the field to spark the Wildcats (11-11 overall, 5-6 WAC). Bella Earle and Maleeah Langstaff added 11 points each.
Earle converted 4-of-6 shots from the field, including 3-of-5 3-point goals. The Wildcats 11-of-32 treys in the game and shot 45.8% overall (27-59) from the field.
Langstaff had five of her team’s 19 assists, while Earle had a game-high eight rebounds.
Saige Gibbs led the Wolverines (5-17, 2-9) with 12 points, and Ally Criddle had 10.
Utah Valley only suited up eight players and didn’t have two starters – just two days after snapping an eight-game losing streak with an overtime win at Tarleton.
Utah Valley hit 17-of-54 shots from the field, including 6-of-23 3-pointers.
ACU plays California Baptist at 6 p.m. Thursday at Moody Coliseum before playing Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Saturday in Edinburg.
