Martin Bauer named Habitat Outstanding Volunteer in Tennessee

Martin Bauer has been named the Outstanding Construction Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in Tennessee.

"Mr. Bauer never misses a day," the Habitat nominating letter said. "He works tirelessly through the cold, heat, and precipitation. He has taken it upon himself to ensure that all new volunteers are appropriately trained. He works with them throughout the day, ensuring they are comfortable with the work they are asked to perform.

"Not only is he dedicated to the builds, but he does so with a smile," the letter continued. "His positive energy is contagious. He truly believes in ending poverty housing in Anderson and Roane counties. His selfless work brings the true meaning of giving to fruition."

"Martin embodies several qualities that make him outstanding," said Charlotte Bowers Cunningham, executive director of Clinch River Habitat for Humanity, in a news release. "His dedication to volunteering for our organization and others around Oak Ridge exemplifies the true spirit of giving."

Bauer was nominated by Laura Christenbury and Mike Willis.
