Martin County NAACP to host rally June 11 in wake of racist photo at Hidden Oaks Middle School

STUART— The Martin County NAACP chapter will be hosting a peace and unity rally 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11 at 720 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, according to president Jimmy Smith.

The event will take place three weeks after six Hidden Oaks Middle School students, all seventh graders, were involved in a photo that spelled out a racial slur.

The school district completed its investigation of the incident one week ago, but is not revealing the findings, identities of those involved and disciplinary details, citing federal privacy laws.
